Precious in His sight
Did you know you are precious in our Lord’s eyes? You are. He told me to tell you so.
Still enjoying the glory of Easter? It was a good Lent, but I love Easter! Now my eyes turn toward Pentecost. I want to share a wonderful resource recommended to me—an online Retreat with the Desert Fathers!
Philokalia Ministries is the fruit of 30 years spent at the feet of the Fathers of the Church. Led by Father David Abernethy, Philokalia Ministries (Philo: Love of the Kalia: Beautiful) exists to re-form hearts and minds according to the mold of the Desert Fathers through the ascetic life, the example of the early Saints, the way of stillness, prayer, and purity of heart, the practice of the Jesus Prayer, and spiritual reading.
They have produced an online Pentecost podcast retreat that you can tap into right now and attend whenever you can. I listened to the first session, and wow. It wasn’t what I expected. I should warn you that if you are looking for a watered-down retreat or one that will go easy on you, don’t bother with this one. Although Fr. Abernethy is a really good speaker, the point of what he has to say is nothing less than the real deal. I hope you’ll check them out here and give them a listen. Let me know what you think!
I also invite you to visit the Divine Intimacy page. I publish daily reflections, and I have to tell you, I’m learning a lot myself in the process. Going deep into topics based on the 1953 liturgical calendar varies widely. Some weeks, we sink into a single major subject and explore it in different ways each day. Other topics have their own special day. It’s been a challenge to write and publish every day, but it’s well worth the time in prayer. I find it amazing how much it relates to our lives today in 2026, as it did almost 75 years ago. I hope you’ll pop in (here) to take a look or become a free subscriber.
I came down with the flu ten days ago and did not enjoy the scare! I am on the mend now, but it has taught me not to let my guard down even a little. My team of doctors jumped on it, said to lie low, and so it’s been a quieter week. It’s likely to hit me again without warning, even here in sunny Florida with constant 80-degree temps. However, I will say, we’ve had a lot of visitors come down for spring break, and maybe they brought something with them? Just sayin….
Hope you are well and loving on the family and our Lord. You are in my daily prayers.
P.S. I’m still looking for a graphic artist for my children’s book. They can either create their own work or use an AI art generator. You know how to contact me if you know of someone I can talk with about it.
